North Andover, Mass. (January 2, 2026)—Trey Deveaux scored a season-high 23 points, but Mount St. Mary's dropped a road contest at Merrimack, 75-65, on Friday afternoon at Lawler Arena. The Mountaineers fall to 5-10 overall and 1-3 in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference with the setback.
The Mount scored the opening basket of the second half to even the score at 29-29, but the Warriors (8-7, 4-0 MAAC) went on a 15-to-5 run to build a double-digit advantage. The Mount pulled within five on multiple occasions, but Merrimack was able to keep the Mountaineers at bay to earn the victory.
Deveaux hit 7-of-11 from the field and 9-of-14 at the foul line for his season-high 23 points. His 14 free throw attempts are a career high while Deveaux added eight boards in the game.
Luke McEldon was also in double figures, finishing with 10 points and six boards.
Justin Amadi chipped in eight points and seven rebounds while Abdou Khadre Kebe and
Arlandus Keyes each had seven in the loss. Kevair Kennedy led all scorers with 24 points with Ernest Shelton adding 22 for Merrimack in the win.
Free throws proved to be a key in the win for Merrimack as the Warriors went 31-for-40 (.775) in the game. The Mount finished the game 22-of=57 (.386) from the field, 2-of-18 (.111) from three-point range and 19-of-28 (.679) at the foul line. Merrimack shot 19-of-46 (.413) from the floor and hit 6-of-22 (.273) from beyond the arc. The Mount held a 41-to-27 edge on the boards.
In a closely contested first half that featured eight lead changes and eight ties, Merrimack jumped out to a 13-7 advantage when Shelton was fouled on a three-point attempt and hit all three charity tosses. The Mount countered with the next six points, three from Deveaux and a three-pointer from
Mason So. A
Yakhya Diop jumper in the paint gave the Mount its biggest lead of the opening half, 23-19. Merrimack scored the next four points, and eventually took a 29-27 lead at the half on a pair of Shelton free throws.
Deveaux paced the Mount with 10 first-half markers while Keyes chipped in five. Shelton led the Warriors with eight points while Brogna and Kennedy scored seven each. The Mount was held to 26.7 percent shooting (8-of-30) in the opening half, including just 2-of-11 (.182) from three-point range. Merrimack shot 30.8 percent (8-of-26) in the half while going 2-of-13 (.154) from beyond the arc.
