EMMITSBURG, Md. (January 15, 2026) – Mount St. Mary's men's and women's swimming and diving returns to the pool to start their 2026 meet schedule with a dual-meet against American on Friday in Washington D.C.
MOUNT UPDATE
Several Mount St. Mary's swimming & diving athletes earned high marks during the final day of the Eastern Collegiate Athletic Conference (ECAC) Winter Championships in New York. Headlining the group was freshman
Adam Jozsa, breaking the school record in the 200-yard breaststroke.
Jozsa – a freshman from West Vancouver, British Columbia – ran the finals in 2:00.35, placing fourth at the event. The time eclipses the previous top mark of 2:00.67, set by
Aidan Grady at the 2023 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Championships.
On the women's team, the trio of
Christina Lazari,
Carmen Del Aguila, and
Theodora Kanellopoulou dominated the 100 freestyle. Lazari won the event in 51.21 seconds, coming within .02 seconds of the school record. Del Aguila was the runner-up at 51.59 seconds, followed by Kanellopoulou in fourth place with a race of 51.74 seconds.
The women's 400-yard free team also emerged victorious, earning a time of 3:26.18.
Madison Murphy joined Lazari, Del Aguila, and Kanellopoulou to earn the collective accomplishment.
Further top times include
Todor Gospodinov earning runner-up with a 1:46.64 in the 200-yard backstroke, joined in a runner-up effort by
Hanna Aggen in the women's 200 backstroke at 2:04.96.
Liam Rooney took fifth in the 200-yard butterfly by accumulating a finish of 1:52.98.
In terms of team scoring, both the men's and women's teams finished fourth at the event.
SCOUTING THE EAGLES
American has compiled a combine record of 6-12 across both men's and women's programs through the 2025-26 season. On September 26, the women's team placed first at the Potomac Relays Invitational amongst a field of teams that included Howard, Georgetown, George Mason, Mary Washington, and Mount St. Mary's with a team score of 450. The men's team placed third with a final points tally of 380 at the same meet.
