Emmitsburg, Md. (January 9, 2026)--Xavier Lipscomb scored a career-high 18 points to fuel Mount St. Mary's in a 70-65 victory over Saint Peter's on Friday night at Knott Arena. Lipscomb went 12-for-12 at the foul line, extending his consecutive free throws made streak to 34, in the victory. Mount St. Mary's improves to 6-11 overall and 2-4 in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference with the victory.
Trailing 56-54, Lipscomb scored in the paint to tie the score, and followed with a traditional three-point play to give the Mount a 59-56 advantage with 3:45 remaining.
Trey Deveaux hit a clutch corner three-pointer to put the Mount on top, 64-58, with 1:23 left, but the Peacocks answered with the next four points to make it a two-point game, 64-62, with 1:10 on the clock. Lipscomb countered with a pair of free throws with 44.0 seconds left to put the Mount on top, 66-62, and after Saint Peter's hit 1-of-2 at the line,
Arlandus Keyes sandwiched a pair of 1-for-2 performances at the line around a Saint Peter's miss for a 68-63 advantage. Lipscomb hit two more free throws to extend the lead to 70-63 before a Saint Peter's basket at the buzzer rounded out the scoring.
Lipscomb finished the game with 18 points, five assists and four rebounds in his career-best scoring performance. Abdou Khadre Kebe, making his first collegiate start, chipped in a career highs of 13 points and five rebounds in 25 minutes of action. Deveaux (12) and Keyes (11) also reached double figures in the win while
Luke McEldon chipped in seven points and a career-high 10 rebounds. TJ Robinson led Saint Peter's with 18 points off the bench.
The Mount held Saint Peter's to 28.6 percent shooting in the game, including just 7-of-31 (.226) in the second half. The Mount finished the game 19-of-50 (.380) from the field while going 6-of-18 (.333) from three-point range. Saint Peter's held a 42-to-41 edge on the boards. The game featured 61 combined free throw attempts with the Mount finishing 26-of-32 (.813) and Saint Peter's 21-of-29 (.724).

- Saint Peter's, who entered the game as one of two unbeaten teams in MAAC play, was held to 28.6 percent shooting in the game, including just 7-of-31 (.226) in the second half.
- Mount St. Mary's shot 20-of-26 at the foul line in the second half and 26-of-32 (.813) in the game. The second half saw the two teams combined for 31 fouls and 47 free throw attempts.
- Saint Peter's grabbed 20 offensive rebounds in the game, the most by a Mount opponent since Sacred Heart had 24 in a 61-59 loss to the Pioneers in the Northeast Conference Quarterfinals on March 4, 2020. The last time the Mount won a game when allowing 20 or more offensive rebounds was Sacred Heart had 20 in a 74-69 Mount win on Feb. 17, 2018.
- Mount St. Mary's is now 6-5 all-time against Saint Peter's, including 4-3 in MAAC regular season games.
- His 12-for-12 effort at the line is tied for the third most free throws made in a game without a miss in program history. Ernie Cage set the record by going 14-for-14 against Georgetown on December 6, 1958 while Gregory Harris holds the Mount's Division I record by going 13-for-13 against Robert Morris on March 4, 2000. Bill Williams (March 1, 1958 vs. American) and Chris McGuthrie (Jan. 9, 1995 at Saint Francis U) also went 12-for-12 at the line in a game for the Mountaineers.
