MOUNT UPDATE:  Mount St. Mary's split a doubleheader with Niagara on Tuesday to move to 7-23 overall and 3-7 in the MAAC.  The Mountaineers are 3-3 over their past six games.  The Mount dropped the opening game against Niagara, 5-2, before rebounding for a victory by the identical score.  Laurenne Gallagher leads the Mount with a .284 average while Tristin Koerner is hitting .273 while leading the team in home runs (3) and RBI (11).  Freshman Ellie Meier tops the pitching staff with a 4-4 record and a 4.55 ERA while Olivia Murphy (1-8, 4.87 ERA) and Sophia Schmehl (3-8, 5.61 ERA) are the top two in innings pitched.
 
ABOUT THE GAELS: Iona swept a MAAC doubleheader at Rider on Tuesday, winning the opening game, 10-1, before edging the Broncs, 5-4, in game two.  The Gaels are now 13-12 overall and 7-1 in MAAC play this season.  Hailey Guerrero leads the team with a .333 average, 22 runs scored and 10 home runs. 

ALL-TIME SERIES:  The Mountaineers won two of three games at Iona last year, and are now 5-6 all-time against the Gaels.  The Mount swept the Saturday doubleheader on April 27, winning 4-2 and 12-1, before falling, 6-0, in the final game of the three-game set. The Mount is 3-2 all-time on the road against Iona.  This is the third consecutive season the Mount has played at Iona.

NEWS AND NOTES:  Freshman pitcher Ellie Meier has not allowed a run over her past three appearances (8.2 IP)…She is 1-0 with a save while allowing just four hits in the three games…Laurenne Gallagher is hitting .412 (7-for-17) over the past six games with a pair of home runs and five RBI…Trinity Koerner is hitting .375 (6-for-16) over the same six game stretch, also hitting two home runs with five RBI…Brianna Manni has a .370 average (10-for-27) over the past 10 games.
