April 23, 2025 -- Mount St. Mary's senior Aaron Sorkin has been named the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) men's golf Player of the Year.  Sorkin finished in second place at this year's MAAC Championships, just one stroke out of first. 

An All-MAAC First Team selection this season, Sorkin led the Mount in the latter end of the regular season by taking the individual title at both the Fripp Island Intercollegiate and the local Carpetbagger Classic, where he also helped lead the Mountaineers to team titles in both events. His lowest scoring round was a 63 which broke a school record which he attained at the Fripp Island Intercollegiate in round two of play. Over the weekend at the 2025 MAAC Men's Golf Championship, Sorkin finished as the individual runner-up with a score 211 (-5) after shooting even with par on the final day and finishing just one stroke out first place. Sorkin finished with 16 birdies leading the entire tournament and 28 pars total. Sorkin's score of 68, shot on day two was the second lowest score of the entire tournament.

Mount St. Mary's finished in fifth place at this year's MAAC Championships.
