MOUNT STORY LINES
- Mount St. Mary's fell at Quinnipiac, 79-70, on Thursday night in Hamden, Conn. The Mountaineers scored the first four points of the second half to take a 36-33 lead, but the Bobcats answered with the next eight points. The Mount cut the deficit to one on four occasions, including 66-65 with just under four minutes left, but could not overcome the deficit. Dola Adebayo and Carmelo Pacheco each scored 17 points for the Mount in the game.
- Marist defeated the Mount, 53-50, on December 6, in the first MAAC game of the season. The Mountaineers, however, hold a 15-8 lead in the all-time series. Mount St. Mary's is 10-2 all-time at home against Marist, including an eight-game home win streak versus the Red Foxes. Marist's last win at Knott Arena was a 96-84 victory on Feb. 13, 1992. Â
- Mount St. Mary's is 11-8 in MAAC play this year and is in a four-way tie for fourth place with Iona and Manhattan. The Mount has clinched a first round bye in the upcoming MAAC Tournament and can be seeded anywhere from fourth to sixth.Â
- Mount St. Mary's has a 18-12 record this season, the most wins by a Mount team since the 2017-18 squad finished with an 18-14 mark. The last time the Mount had 19 wins was when the 2008-09 squad finished with a 19-14 record.
- Xavier Lipscomb had a solid all-around performance in the loss at Quinnipiac, finishing with eight points, nine rebounds and six assists. He is the second Mountaineer this year to post 8+ points, 9+ rebounds and 6+ assists, joining Terrell Ard Jr. who accomplished the feat in the Mount's win at LIU.
- Carmelo Pacheco hit 5-of-8 from three-point range en route to a 17-point effort in the Mount's 79-70 loss to Quinnipiac. Pacheco is averaging 16.0 points over the past two games, hitting 8-of-15 (.533) from three-point range. The sophomore is fourth in the nation in three-point percentage, hitting 76-of-165 (.461) from beyond the arc. Pacheco's 76 three-pointers made are the ninth-best single-season mark in Mount history.
- Up next, the Mount heads to the 2025 MAAC Championships at Jim Whelan Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City, N.J. The Mount's first game will be Thursday, March 13 in the quarterfinals. The Mount's seed and opponent will be determined by Saturday's results.
