EMMITSBURG, Md. (March 22, 2025) – Mount St. Mary's men's rugby took care of business against Ohio State at home Saturday, 52-7.
Sophomore
Hayden McKay started the scoring for the Mount, grabbing the first five points just six minutes into the match.
Evan Corbett followed suit scoring another five.
Hunter Hertzog and
Bastian Brunello collaborated for seven points after a Hertzog try in the 30
th minute of the first half. Saige Calvin capped off the first half with a try, giving the Mount a strong lead at half, 22-0.
The second half saw Mount's dominance continued. McKay added one more try, followed by two Brunello tries. Senior
Shemar Lewis did his part for the Mount scoring a try, followed by a Logan Wood conversion. Ohio State was finally able to put points on the board to prevent a shutout, but after a Logan Wood field goal and a
Kiahi Horan try, the Mount finished the game with a dominating win, 52-7.
The Mountaineers have qualified for the D1A Playoffs and will be playing Army on April 5
th in the Round of 16. Location and time for the match is still under determination.
