Emmitsburg, Md (February 20, 2025) - The Mountaineers men's lacrosse team takes the short trip to Baltimore to face off with the Chesapeake Bay Retrievers on Friday, February 21, at 6 PM.
Mount Update
The Mountaineers are on their second road game in a row, after defeating Wagner in Staten Island, N.Y., 15-9.
Marcelo Carreiro and
Jack Smith led the goal-scoring for the Mount with three each, with
Connor Barrett and
Brody Atkinson each scoring two. This win added to the Mount's historical dominance over the Seahawks, with the series record now being 21-2. Â The Mount brags four players with double-digit points on the season, with
Jack Smith leading with 14. The Mount's scoring has come from all over this season with ten different goal scorers, the leader being
Brody Atkinson with 13 goals scored.
Bennett Wright is holding strong in the cage, showing a .567 save percentage, saving 55 shots in the four games played this season. Wright holds fourth place in the MAAC in goals-against-average at 10.35 and sits fifth in save percentage and saves per game.
Scouting the Chesapeake Bay Retrievers
UMBC took down Drexel in their first game of the season, 9-6. Corey Myers, Nick Gutierrez, and Connor Chick each scored two goals to lead the Retrievers to the win. In the goal, Connor McMahon recorded ten saves in the game and picked up the win in his first career start. Â
Up Next for the Mount
The Mountaineers will return to Waldron Family Stadium to take on Monmouth on March 1 at noon. This will be the final game before conference play begins versus Quinnipiac at home on March 8 at 11 AM.
