Game Recap: Women's Basketball |

Second Quarter Surge Leads Women’s Basketball to 75-64 Win Over Lehigh

EMMITSBURG, Md. (December 7, 2025) – Mount St. Mary's women's basketball claimed a crucial 75-64 win over Lehigh on December 7 at Knott Arena, snapping a seven-game losing streak against the Mountain Hawks that started in 1993. With the win, the Mountaineers improved to 3-5 on the young season with one last non-conference game against Mercyhurst on December 15 remaining before the start of Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference play.

Alana Powell led the Mountaineer's offensive push, scoring 21 points and going 9-14 from the field. Gabrielle Kennerly recorded a team second 17 points with seven steals. Amber Bullard dominated on both sides of the court, scoring 12 points and grabbing 11 rebounds for her second double-double of the year. And Jaedyn Jamison recorded 10 rebounds with two steals.

The Mountaineers grabbed 46 rebounds against the Mountain Hawks, tallying 18 offensive boards with Bullard and Wesleigh Ferguson grabbing three each. Altogether, the team went 31-73 from the field while going 8-20 from beyond the three-point arc, recording a final shooting percentage of 42.5% from the field.

Mount St. Mary's went into the first intermission up 15-13 against Lehigh, going 7-16 from the field in the first quarter. Off the bench, Powell went 3-4 in the first with six points, including a late layup to put the Mount up at the break. The Mountaineers fended off their opponents well in the paint, scoring eight while limiting Lehigh to four on the other side of the court.

Berlynn Carlson riddled off the first score of the second quarter, draining a three 30 seconds after the start of the quarter. From then on, the Mountaineers went on a 27-18 run to head into halftime up 45-31. Powell went 2-3 from the field while Kennerly went 2-3 from beyond the arc. Bullard scored six points in the second while grabbing six boards.

Both teams battled to start the third quarter before a layup from Carlson broke the deadlock with eight minutes to go in the quarter. A Lehigh three-pointer a minute later was promptly responded to by Kennerly, draining a three-pointer of her own with 7:30 left in the period. A fleury of Mountaineer fouls sent the Mountain Hawks to the line in the third, with Lehigh going 8-10 from the line in a five-minute period. A three-pointer from Nyodie Guerard and a pull up jumper from Powell sent the Mountaineers into the final intermission up 65-47.

Lehigh outscored the Mount 17-10 in the fourth quarter, but with nine defensive rebounds in the quarter, the Mountaineers stunted any real chance of a comeback in the end. Kennerly recorded six points in the quarter, going 3-8 from the field while Jamison grabbed four defensive rebounds in the fourth.

The Mountaineers return to Knott Arena on December 15, facing off against Mercyhurst in their final non-conference game of the year at 7:00 p.m. in Emmitsburg.
