EMMITSBURG, Md. (December 15, 2025) – With 12 players contributing a point, 10 dishing an assist and nine tallying a rebound, Mount St. Mary's women's basketball combined for a season-high in points to take victory over Mercyhurst, 81-52, Monday evening.
Gabrielle Kennerly led a quartet of double-digit scorers with 17 points for the evening.
Berlynn Carlson finished with a strong second half to post a career high of 16 points, followed by
Giana Hoddinott with 12 and
Nyodie Guerard with 10.
Mount St. Mary's finishes non-conference play with a record of 4-5.
HOW THE GAME UNFOLDED
- Kennerly scored six of the team's first eight points to start on an 8-0 run.
- Seven different players earned a bucket as the Mount went up 21-12 following the first quarter.
- Another pair of Kennerly triples extended the lead up to 37-23 with 2:59 left in the half, forcing a Mercyhurst timeout. The Lakers would score once more before the half was over the make the score 37-25.
- The visitors used an 8-0 outburst to cut the deficit to 43-33 in the third quarter.
- In the fourth quarter, the Mount pulled away with a 10-0 run with the duo of Carlson and Wesleigh Ferguson leading the charge. Guerard finished by scoring five of the team's final nine points.
NOTEWORTHY ITEMS
- The 81 points scored are the most for the team since posting 92 against Siena on January 23, 2025. It is also the seventh most points scored with Antoine White at the helm.
- Guerard also earned career highs in assists with seven and steals with five.
- Hoddinott's four three-pointers were also a career best.
- Erica Hall of Mercyhurst doubled her previous career high, scoring 26 points with nine rebounds. She and teammate Cici Hernandez registered 43 of the team's points.
- Mount St. Mary's is now 2-0 against Mercyhurst, averaging 84.5 per win.
