MOUNT STORY LINES
- Mount St. Mary's opened Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) play with an 87-80 loss at home to Sacred Heart on Wednesday night. Justin Amadi led five Mountaineers in double figures with 16 points. Anastasios Rozakeas (15) and Mason So (13) each added career highs in the loss. Arlandus Keyes (13) and Xavier Lipscomb (10) were the other Mountaineers in double figures. Â
- Mount St. Mary's holds a 17-8 lead in the all-time series with the Red Foxes. The Mount went 2-1 against Marist last year, including a 62-58 victory in the MAAC Quarterfinals on March 13. The Mount is 5-2 against Marist, including the playoffs, since joining the MAAC for the 2022-23 season. The Mountaineers are 5-6 all-time on the road against the Red Foxes.
- The Mount and Marist were Northeast Conference rivals during Marist's seven-year tenure in the league from 1990-1997. Mount St. Mary's defeated Marist, 84-79, in the 1995 Northeast Conference semifinals at Knott Arena en route to capturing the school's first NEC title. Riley Inge went 11-for-14 from the field while scoring a game-high 28 points to lead the Mount to the win. Danny Basile (21) and Alan Tomidy (20) each reached the 20-point plateau in the loss.Mount St. Mary's fell to 0-2 this season when scoring 80 points or more in a game after the 87-80 setback to Sacred Heart. The Mount lost at Maryland, 95-90, in overtime earlier this season.
- The Mountaineers committed a season-low 10 turnovers against Sacred Heart. The game also marked the first time this year the Mount won the turnover battle as Sacred Heart committed 11 in the game. The Mount is averaging 16.0 turnovers per game on the year, and is -7.6 in turnover margin.
- Justin Amadi had 16 points and nine rebounds for the Mount in the loss to Sacred Heart on Wednesday night. Amadi is averaging 18.5 points and 9.5 rebounds over the past two games, shooting 65.0 percent (13-of-20) from the field. Amadi is now averaging 9.6 points and 5.9 rebounds on the season.
- Mount St. Mary's is averaging 79.5 points over the past two games, shooting 50.8 percent (60-of-118) from the field and 18-of-45 (.377) from beyond the arc. It also is the first time this season the Mount has topped 70 or more points in back-to-back contests.
