MOUNT STORY LINES
- Mount St. Mary's was resilient in a 79-75 win over Howard at Knott Arena this past Saturday, holding off several Howard rallies to secure the victory. Justin Amadi led the way with 21 points and 10 rebounds for his first double-double as a Mountaineer. Luke McEldon added 14 points and nine rebounds in the win as well. Leading 73-62, the Mount saw Howard cut the deficit to 77-75, but Xavier Lipscomb's basket with nine seconds left sealed the victory.
- This will be the 47th all-time meeting between the Mount and Sacred Heart. Mount St. Mary's holds a 31-15 edge in the series, including an 18-6 mark at Knott Arena. The teams played once last year with the Mount winning, 73-71, on Dola Adebayo's shot at the buzzer.
- The Mount's matchup with Sacred Heart is the opening game on the 2025-26 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) schedule. The Mount, in its fourth season in the MAAC, won the MAAC title last year to advance to the NCAA Tournament. Sacred Heart is in its second season in the MAAC.
- The Mount and Sacred Heart are former Northeast Conference rivals. The Mount was in the NEC from 1989-2022 while Sacred Heart was an NEC member from 1999-2024. Mount St. Mary's defeated Sacred Heart, 68-55, in the 2008 Northeast Conference Championship game. The following year, the Mount defeated the Pioneers, 68-63, at home in the NEC semifinals.
- Justin Amadi had 21 points and 10 rebounds in the win over Howard on Saturday for the Mount's first double-double of the year. Amadi is the 11th Mountaineer to record a 20-point, 10-rebound double-double since 2014. Dola Adebayo was the last to achieve the feat with 22 points and 13 rebounds in a win over Siena on March 2, 2025.
- Luke McEldon had 14 points and nine rebounds in the Mount's win over Howard, hitting 6-of-8 from the floor in the game. McEldon is averaging 15.3 points and 7.3 rebounds over the past three games, connecting on 21-of-32 (.656) from the field over that span. He is currently third in the MAAC in field goal percentage (.603).
- Mount St. Mary's used its fifth starting lineup of the season in the win over Howard on Saturday. Injuries have been the main cause for the multiple lineups as the Mountaineers have 38 man games lost to injury this season.
- The Mount has a quick turnaround, heading to Marist for a Friday night MAAC matchup with a 7:00 p.m. tip-off.
