EMMITSBURG, Md. (November 7, 2025) – In front of a raucous sellout crowd at Knott Arena, Mount St. Mary's men's basketball celebrated their Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) championship from the previous year. The visiting Bucknell Bison spoiled the party after tipoff, walking away with a 73-62 win on Friday evening.
Luke McEldon and
Xavier Lipscomb registered career highs in points during the contest. McEldon had the game-high with 21 points and eight rebounds, blasting past his previous high of eight points set during last Tuesday's game at West Virginia. Lipscomb finished with 16 points, two more than his previous best of 14.
Anastasios Rozakeas ended the game in double figures with 10.
Bucknell had five players reach double figures, led by Ruot Bijiek and Amon Dörries with 15 each. The Bison are 2-0 to start the season.
Mount held the early advantage with a Rozakeas three and a McEldon bucket to put them up 5-3. Lipscomb hit a trey for an 8-6 edge before Bucknell went on a 6-0 run to grab the lead. From there, the Mount found themselves playing catchup apart from ties at 14-14 at 21-21. The visiting Bison carried a 38-30 lead into the break.
Feeding off the atmosphere, the Mountaineers made a run in the closing minutes of the game. A 4-0 spurt capped by a McEldon layup brought the score to 55-54 at the 6:15 mark.
Justin Amadi brought it back to a single possession on foul shots with 3:39 left. But Bucknell pulled away as the time ticked away.
