MOUNT STORY LINES
  • Mount St. Mary's opened the season at West Virginia, falling 70-54 on Tuesday night.  Trey Deveaux led the Mount with 15 points while adding six boards.  The Mount led 25-22 before WVU closed the half with a 13-to-4 run for a 35-29 lead at the break.  The Mount pulled within six at 52-46, but saw WVU score the next six points to secure the victory.  Xavier Lipscomb added eight points, nine rebounds, five assists and four steals with Mason So chipping in eight points and a career-high seven rebounds in the loss.
  • This will be the 26th all-time meeting between the Mount and Bucknell with the Bison holding a narrow 13-12 lead in the series.  The Mountaineers are 7-8 against Bucknell since moving to NCAA Division I in 1988-89.  The Mount has won four of the past five matchups in the series.
  • This will be the 117th home opener for the Mount men's basketball program with the Mount holding an 89-27 record in those games.  Since moving to NCAA Division I in 1988-89, the Mount has a 25-12 record in home openers in the Division I era, including wins in each of the past six seasons.  The Mount defeated Notre Dame (Md.), 98-62, in the home opener last season.
  • Coaches can now challenge, at any point in the game, out-of-bounds calls, basket interference/goaltending and whether a secondary defender was in the restricted-area arc.  Head coach Donny Lind was successful on his first challenge of the year, overturning an out of bounds call with 6:56 left in the game at West Virginia.
  • Mount St. Mary's held a 38-to-29 advantage on the boards at West Virginia on Tuesday night.  The Mountaineers grabbed 83.3 percent of the defensive rebounds in the game, finishing with 30 defensive rebounds while holding WVU to just six offensive boards.  Mount guards Xavier Lipscomb (9 rebs.) and Mason So (7 rebs.) led the way.
  • WVU outscored the Mount, 23-to-13, at the free throw line on Tuesday night.  The Mount committed 25 fouls in the game with six players recording three or more fouls,  including a pair of disqualifications.
  • Up next, the Mount heads to Saint Francis U on Tuesday, November 11, for a 7:00 p.m. matchup.
