EMMITSBURG, Md. (November 26, 2025) – Mount St. Mary's fell to the UMES Hawks, 67-59, in a tough, physical contest. With the defeat the Mountaineers are now 2-4 for the season.
Gabrielle Kennerly led the scoring with 16 points.
Amber Bullard added 10 points with a team-high six rebounds, and
Giana Hoddinott chipped in another 10. Kennerly had the most assists with five, and Bullard the most blocks with four rejections.
Ashanti Lynch led all scorers with 27 for the Hawks. Lainey Allen added a double-double of 14 points and 10 rebounds. UMES is now 5-4 this year.
HOW THE GAME UNFOLDED
- The Mountaineers grabbed the early lead, going up as much as four with a Kennerly triple at the 7:25 mark of the first quarter.
- Lynch sent home a three-pointer for UMES that gave them the advantage, 9-7, with 4:59 in the opening frame. They would extend the edge up to five and held a 19-15 lead entering the second quarter.
- The visitors cemented their lead with 22 points in the second quarter with 10 from Allen and seven from Lynch. UMES led 41-30 at the break while the leading duo earning 33 points for the Hawks.
- A quick 4-0 run with Bullard layups gave brief momentum to the Mountaineers. UMES was able to counter and took the third quarter by a 14-12 margin.
- Down 14 inside of three minutes to play, the Mount made a couple advances on foul shots and two buckets from Jaedyn Jamison, but could only close the gap to eight before the final buzzer.
NOTEWORTHY ITEMS
- Mount St. Mary's committed 22 personal fouls, which was the same number called on UMES for the game. The team averages 21.8 infractions per game. Amber Bullard became the second Mountaineer to foul out of a game, joining Wesleigh Ferguson (Morgan State)
- Three Mount players reached double figures in scoring, marking the first such instance of the season.
- Bullard finished with four blocks, the most for a Mount player since Tessa Engelman last February 6 against Iona.
- Coach Antoine White successfully appealed an out-of-bounds call in the second quarter. He is 1-2 this season on appeals.
- UMES won their sixth game over the Mount, but the Mountaineers still hold a 15-6 all-time advantage.
