Mount St. Mary's Drops Overtime Heartbreaker at Maryland, 95-90

College Park, Md. (November 19, 2025)—Mount St. Mary's gave Maryland all it could handle before dropping a heartbreaker in overtime, 95-90, at the XFINITY Center on Wednesday night.  The Mount's Arlandus Keyes scored a career-high 22 points while Xavier Lipscomb added a career-best 17 in the game.

The Mount (1-4) rallied from a 13-point deficit in the second half to lead by as much as six points before Maryland rallied to force overtime.  Trailing 53-40 with just under 15 minutes remaining, Mount St. Mary's went on a 19-to-3 run, capped by back-to-back triples from Keyes, to take a 59-56 advantage.  After an Andre Mills basket, Lipscomb drained a three-pointer and Trey Deveaux scored in the paint to give the Mount a 64-58 lead.

Maryland's David Coit, who scored a game-high and career-high 41 points for Maryland, scored eight unanswered points to put the Terrapins back on top, 66-64.  The Mount responded with a Lipscomb three-pointer and a bucket from Justin Amadi to regain the lead at 69-66.  Another Amadi lay-up, this time on a feed from Lipscomb, pushed the advantage to 71-66 with 3:36 on the clock.
Coit hit a pair of free throws, and Maryland's Isaiah Watts knotted the score at 71-71 with a three with 1:22 left in regulation.  It was Lipscomb who again came through for the Mount, nailing a three with 55 seconds left to put the Mount back on top, 74-71.  After a stop, Mason So connected on a pair of free throws to extend the lead to five with 30 seconds left.  Coit countered with a traditional three-point play, and Keyes was fouled with 16 seconds on the clock.  Keyes hit 1-of-2 at the line, and after a Maryland timeout, Coit drained a three from 30-feet to even the score at 77-77.  Lipscomb had a chance at the end of regulation for the win, but he missed the final shot on a drive to the basket.

In overtime, Keyes drained a three-pointer to put the Mount on top, 80-77, and he hit another three to tie the score at 84-84 with 1:54 left.  Coit converted a step-back jumper to put Maryland back on top, and after Lipscomb hit 1-of-2 at the line, he drained another three for an 89-85 lead with 52 ticks left.  From there, Maryland was able to converted at the foul line for the 95-90 win.

Keyes finished the game 7-for-11 from three-point range en route to his career-best 22 points.  Lipscomb finished 5-for-8 overall from the field and was 4-for-6 from distance to his career-best 17.  Lipscomb added six rebounds and five assists in a solid all-around effort.  Deveaux added 13 points and five boards off the bench while Amadi just missed a double-double with 10 points and nine boards.  Amadi had eight offensive rebounds in the game.  Anastasios Rozakeas and So scored nine points each for the Mount with Luke McEldon chipping in eight in a balanced scoring effort.
Coit went 8-of-10 from three-point range while hitting 11-fo-11 at the foul line as he led all scorers with his 41-point effort.  Darius Adams hit 17-of-21 at the line to finish with 19 points, Elijah Saunders had 14 points and Mills 12 in the win.

In a nip-and-tuck first half, the Terrapins used a late 10-to-4 run to grab a 40-32 advantage at the half.  Rozakeas, McEldon, Keyes and Deveaux each scored six points to pace the Mount in the opening half.  Saunders and Adams each had 11 with Coit adding 10 to lead Maryland.

The Mount shot 44.4 precent (12-of-27) from the field and 6-of-13 (.462) from three-point range in the half while holding Maryland to 35.7 percent shooting (10-of-28) overall and 4-of-13 (.308) from beyond the arc.  The difference in the opening half came at the charity stripe as Maryland went 16-for-20 (.800) while the Mount was just 2-of-3 (.667).
