Late Run Proves to Be the Difference as Mount St. Mary's Falls at Cincinnati

Cincinnati, Ohio (November 16, 2025)—Mount St. Mary's put forth a strong effort before a late run proved to be the difference in a 72-55 loss at Cincinnati on Sunday night.  Xavier Lipscomb led the Mount with 14 points, eight rebounds and four assists while Trey Deveaux added 11 points in the game.

Leading 36-30 at the half, the Mount's Luke McEldon opened the scoring in the second half for an eight-point advantage.  The Bearcats (4-0) responded with an 12-to-3 run to take a one-point advantage four minutes into the second half.

Mount St. Mary's (1-3) proved to be resilient, answering with a 7-0 run to take a 48-42 advantage.  Justin Amadi's traditional three-point play put the Mount back ahead, 44-42.  Deveaux then drained a three-pointer, and Lipscomb hit 1-of-2 at the line, for a six-point Mount advantage with 14:16 left in the game.

Cincinnati scored the next 10 points to take the lead at 52-48.  McEldon scored in the paint to stem the run, but the Bearcats then added the next nine points to build a 61-50 advantage with 6:22 left in game.  In all, Cincinnati outscored the Mount, 30-to-7, over the final 14 minutes to rally for the win.

Lipscomb hit 5-of-8 from the field for his 14 points while grabbing eight boards and dishing out four assists.  Deveaux hit 3-of-7 from three-point range en route to his double-digit effort, while McEldon finished with nine points and six rebounds.   Day Day Thomas led the Bearcats with 16 points.

Trailing 5-2 early in the game, the Mount went on a 9-3 run, capped by a McEldon three-point play, to take an 11-8 advantage.  After Cincinnati's Keyshaun Tillery hit a jumper to put the Bearcats ahead, 18-17, Lipscomb sandwiched a pair of triples around a Cincinnati free throw for a 23-19 advantage.

After a Baba Miller basket for Cincinnati, Keyes drained a triple and Mason So connected on a pull-up jumper to extend the Mount's advantage to 28-21.  A Deveaux three-pointer with 5:48 left in the half put the Mount up on top, 31-23, and a McEldon hook shot gave the Mount its biggest advantage at 36-27.  Tillery hit a three-pointer to make it 36-30 at the break.

Lipscomb keyed the Mount's first half, finishing with 13 points and six rebounds while Keyes added six points and two assists.  The Mount shot 14-of-32 (.438) from the field, hitting 7-of-16 (.438) from three-point range.  The Mount held the Bearcats to 30.3 percent (10-of-33) shooting, including 4-of-18 (.222) from beyond the arc.

NOTES
  • The Mount led for 22:45 of the game before Cincinnati's late run over the final 14 minutes.
  • The Mount shot 37.5 percent in the game, including 10-of-27 (.370) from three-point range.Cincinnati also shot 37.5 percent, but were 6-of-29 (.207) from beyond the arc.
  • Cincinnati took advantage at the foul line, hitting 18-of-30 (.600) compared to the Mount's 3-of-10 (.300) in the contest.
  • Mount St. Mary's has made 23 three-point field goals over the past two games
  • This was the second all-time meeting between the Mount and Bearcats.Cincinnati defeated the Mount, 69-59, on November 15, 2010, in the only other meeting.
  • The Mount is now 0-12 all-time against teams in the Big 12 Conference.
