EMMITSBURG, Md. (November 14, 2025) – Mount St. Mary's men's rugby travel to Miami Gardens, Florida for their CRAA Playoff Qualifier against St. Thomas on Saturday at 9:00 a.m. With their loss to No. 2 Life on November 1, the Mountaineers finished their 2025 Fall XV's season with a record of 3-3, compiling a Rugby East conference record of 2-3.
FALL REGULAR SEASON RECAP
Across their six games in the Fall of 2025, Mount men's rugby scored 144 points while conceding 215 points against nationally ranked competition such as Navy, Army, and Life. Wins for the Mountaineers this past fall include victories against Davenport, Mary Washington, and Penn State.
Against Davenport, the match started with an early penalty conversion for the Mountaineers, as
Evan Corbett put through a kick, going up 3-0 within three minutes.
Hayden McKay opened the tries for the Mount in the 19
th minute, with a Corbett conversion following soon after.
Xavier Locke and
Fintan Hughes added to the Mount's score through the first before McKay once again found the goal line to take a 29-0 score into the halftime break.
Davenport added 14 points in the second half, but it was too little to late with the Mount's insurance points in the first. Locke and Hughes tallied solo tries against the Panthers while McKay contributed to the game with a brace of scoring. Corbett went 3-4 on conversion kicks after the try, with a penalty conversion following suit.
In Fredericksburg against Mary Washigton,
Evan Corbett started the scoring for the Mountaineers, converting a penalty in the 7
th minute for a 3-0 lead.
Hayden McKay scored the Mount's first try in the 11
th minute with an ensuing conversion from Corbett to take a 10-0 lead over the Eagles. A Mary Washington penalty conversion was cancelled out in the 23
rd minute by
Joe Sharrock, scoring once more for the Mountaineers. McKay scored once again on the stroke of halftime to take a 22-3 lead into halftime.
In the 46
th minute, Corbett converted another penalty for the score followed by a try from Kingston Canby in the 58
th minute.
Bastian Brunello converted a penalty in the 77
th minute to round out the victory against Mary Washington in Fredericksburg.
McKay scored a pair of tries while Sharrock and Canby recorded single tries scored. Corbett went 2-2 on penalty conversions and 3-3 on conversions after the try. Brunello went 1-1 on the penalty conversion.
And at home against Penn State, the Mountaineers started the scoring in the eight minute after
Hayden McKay scored the opening try with an ensuing
Bastian Brunello conversion kick flying through the uprights for an early 7-0 lead. McKay scored once more in the 15
th minute followed by a
Xavier Lock try in the 35
th minute, aiding the Mountaineers as the home side went up 19-7 at halftime.
Brunello started the scoring for the Mount fifteen minutes into the second half, as the Frenchman slid a penalty conversion through the uprights. Four minutes later in the 59
th minute, McKay completed his hat trick with a Brunello conversion following the score. And Lock got on the board one more time before the final whistle, scoring in the 62
nd minute. Penn State put up a good effort in the final 20 minutes, scoring two tries, but the Mountaineer defense held on to secure the win in the end.
McKay scored three tries while Lock notched a brace of tries against the Nittany Lions. Brunello went 3-4 from conversions after the score while knocking in a penalty conversion.
