MOUNT STORY LINES
- Mount St. Mary's dropped its home opener to Bucknell, 73-62, on November 7 before a raucous sellout crowd at Knott Arena. Luke McEldon posted career highs of 21 points and eight rebounds to lead the Mount while Xavier Lipscomb added a career high 16 points, six rebounds and four assists. Anastasios Rozakeas had 10 points with Mason So finishing with six assists and seven boards in the loss. The Mount cut a double-digit second half deficit to one (55-54), but Bucknell was able to make the plays down the stretch seal the win.
- Mount St. Mary's has won the past six meetings with Saint Francis to take a 55-34 lead in the all-time series. The Mount owns a 33-12 record at home against their former Northeast Conference rivals. Mount St. Mary's is 30-7 over the past 37 matchups with the Red Flash dating back to February of 2005. The Mountaineers earned a 72-65 road win over SFU last season.
- Luke McEldon led the Mount with 21 points and eight rebounds against Bucknell, setting career highs in both categories. McEldon is averaging a team-high 14.5 points per game while adding 6.0 rebounds. He is shooting 65.0 percent (13-of-20) from the field so far.
- The Mount's starting backcourt of Xavier Lipscomb and Mason So have been contributing in all facets of the game so far this year. The pair of left-handers are averaging a combined 17.0 points, 14.5 rebounds and 9.0 assists over the first two games. Â
- Coaches can now challenge, at any point in the game, out-of-bounds calls, basket interference/goaltending and whether a secondary defender was in the restricted-area arc. Head coach Donny Lind has been successful on his first two challenges of the season, one at WVU and one at home against Bucknell.
- Mount St. Mary's has controlled the boards so far this season with a +9.5 rebound margin over the first two games. The Mount outrebounded Bucknell, 41-31, last game after holding a 38-29 rebound edge at WVU. The Mount is 20th in the nation by grabbing 80.0 percent of the rebounds on the defensive end.
- On the other end of the court, the Mount has struggled with turnovers, committing a turnover on 26.4 percent of its offensive possessions. The Mount is -11.0 in turnover margin over the first two games, averaging 17.5 per game.
