Rebounded Shot Separates Mount Women’s Soccer from Sacred Heart

EMMITSBURG, Md. (October 4, 2025) – One rebounded shot off a save was enough to separate Mount St. Mary's from Sacred Heart, as the visitors capitalized to defeat the Mount 1–0 on Saturday at Waldron Family Stadium.

Facing 11 shots on goal, Mountaineers keeper Abigail Makela set a career high in saves by turning aside nine attempts. Jasmine Sims made an impact early, including a stop on an exposed net to keep the score 0–0 at the time.

In the 24th minute, Shea Kelleher fired a shot that Makela stopped but was unable to hold. The rebound landed at the feet of Morgan Brovardi, who smashed a strike into the upper right corner. Sims almost made another huge save but arrived a moment too late as the ball careened into the net. Brovardi tied the SHU record for career goals with 26 on the eventual game-winner.

With the result, the Mountaineers are now 3–8–1 with a 1–5–1 record in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC). Sacred Heart improves to 6–5–1 with a 5–2 MAAC record.

This Wednesday (Oct. 8), Mount St. Mary's travels to face Fairfield in Connecticut.
