EMMITSBURG, Md. (October 1, 2025) – In front of an energetic crowd at Waldron Family Stadium, Mount St. Mary's women's soccer team and Rider combined for 25 attempts on goal. Neither side managed to break the deadlock, as the contest ended in a 0-0 draw Wednesday evening.
The Mount edged Rider in total shots, 13-12, but the Broncs recorded one more shot on target with five. Both goalkeepers —
Abigail Makela and Ashley Moore — earned credit for the clean sheet with strong performances.
Taylor Simmons led all players with the most shots on goal, testing Moore twice during the match.
Most of Rider's chances came early, with six shots during a furious five-minute surge to open the game. Two of those attempts were turned aside by Makela. She was called into action again in the second half, including a 79th-minute effort from Noa Menzing that required an elevated, diving save to keep the match level.
On the Mount's side, they registered a pair of on-target shots in each half. Simmons had one in each, joined by
Maddie MacDonald in the first half and
Ines Gama Ferreira in the closing minutes.
The result marks the Mount's first draw of the season, bringing their record to 3-7-1 overall and 1-4-1 in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC). Rider stands at 2-5-4, with a 0-3-2 mark in MAAC play.
Staying in Emmitsburg this week, Mount St. Mary's hosts Sacred Heart. Kickoff is set for noon.
