MOUNT STORY LINES
- Mount St. Mary's rallied from an 11-point halftime deficit to post a 68-62 win over Niagara at Knott Arena on Sunday. Carmelo Pacheco led five Mountaineers in double figures with 14 points in the win. Trailing 37-26 at the half, the Mountaineers used a pair of 10-0 second-half runs to secure the win. The Mount outscored Niagara, 42-25, in the second half, shooting 63.6 percent from the field (14-of-22) and three-point range (7-of-11).
- Manhattan holds a 12-8 lead in the all-time series that dates back all the way to 1910. The teams split the season series last year with each winning on their home court. The Mount is 2-2 against Manhattan in MAAC regular season matchups.
- Mount St. Mary's had five players score in double figures in the win over Niagara on Sunday. It is the sixth time the Mount has had five or more players score in double figures in a game this year with the Mountaineers posting a 6-0 mark in those contests.
- Mount St. Mary's finished the non-conference schedule with a 7-4 record, the most non-conference wins in a season since the Mount moved to NCAA Division I in 1988-89. It is the Mount's first winning season in non-conference play since the 2002-03 team went 5-4.
- The Mount's 9-5 record is the best start to a season since the 1986-87 team opened the year at 12-2. The last time the Mount had a winning record after 14 games was when the 1995-96 opened the year at 8-6.
- Jedy Cordilia had 12 points and three blocks in the Mount's win over Niagara. The senior forward has provided strong numbers in MAAC play, averaging 12.3 points and 7.7 rebounds while shooting 73.9 percent from the field in the Mount's three conference matchups.
- Carmelo Pacheco hit 4-of-8 from three-point range in the win over Niagara on Sunday, the fourth time this season he has made four or more three-pointers in a game. Pacheco is shooting 52.3 percent (23-of-44) from beyond the arc over his past eight games.
- Up next, the Mount returns to Knott Arena on Sunday, January 12, at 2:00 p.m. to host former Northeast Conference rival Sacred Heart. The following week, the Mount visits Rider on January 16 before hosting Quinnipiac on January 18 at 4:00 p.m.
