Mount St. Mary's Looks to Get Back on Winning Track at Merrimack on Friday

MOUNT STORY LINES
  • Mount St. Mary's dropped its fourth consecutive game, 74-64, to Manhattan at Knott Arena this past Saturday.  Dola Adebayo paced the Mountaineers with 20 points and seven rebounds while Dallas Hobbs chipped in 13 points in the game.  The Mount cut a 10-point halftime deficit to two four minutes into the second half  The Jaspers countered with a 16-to-1 run to take control of the game and cruise to the victory.
  • Mount St. Mary's has won five in a row against Merrimack to take a 6-1 lead in the all-time series that began in 1986.  The Mount and Merrimack were each members of the Northeast Conference from 2019-2022.  The Mount swept the Warriors in the season series in 2021-22, its final season in the NEC.  The Mountaineers are 1-1 all-time on the road against the Warriors.
  • Mount St. Mary's has struggled on the offensive end over its four-game losing streak, averaging 62.3 points per game while shooting 38.6 percent from the field and 29.8 percent from three-point range.  Prior to the losing streak, the Mount was averaging 72.8 points per game while shooting 43.8 percent overall and 33.1 percent from beyond the arc.
  • Including the matchup at Merrimack, the Mount will have four of its next five games on the road.  The Mountaineers are 5-6 on the road this season, but have dropped three of their past four road games.  The Mount will head to Saint Peter's on Sunday.
  • Senior forward Jedy Cordilia leads the MAAC in field goal percentage this season, shooting 61.0 percent (75-of-123) overall.  Cordilia is 9-for-12 (.750) from the field over his past two games, averaging 12.0 points over that span.  His career 58.5 field goal percentage is fourth all-time at Mount St. Mary's. 
  • Dola Adebayo scored a team-high 20 points in the Mount's loss against Manhattan.  He has scored 20 or more points in three of his past four games, the first three 20-point efforts of his career (79 games played).  Adebayo is averaging 18.5 points over the four-game stretch, hitting 25-of-44 (.568) from the field and 5-of-10 (.500) from three-point range.
  • Up next, the Mount heads to Saint Peter's on Sunday, February 2, for a 2:00 p.m. matchup.  The Mountaineers return to Knott Arena to face Iona on Thursday, February 6, at 7 pm.  Fans can purchase tickets to the Iona game here.
