MOUNT STORY LINES
  • Xavier Lipscomb came through in the big moments down the stretch to lead Mount St. Mary's past Manhattan, 75-66, on Friday night at Draddy Gymnasium.  With the Mount leading 65-64, Lipscomb scored five consecutive points to help build a 70-64 advantage.  From there, the Mountaineers were able to salt away the victory at the foul line.  Lipscomb finished with 11 points, six assists and four rebounds in the win while Terrell Ard Jr. tallied a team-high 16 points and Dola Adebayo 13 in the game.
  • Mount St. Mary's holds a 30-15 advantage in the all-time series with former Northeast Conference rival Sacred Heart.  The Mount is 17-6 all-time at home against the Pioneers, including six wins over the past eight games between the two teams at Knott Arena.  Sacred Heart has won four of the past six meetings in the series.
  • The Mountaineers are 5-4 on the road this season, already matching last year's season total for road wins (5-13 on the road in 2023-24).  The Mount has not had a winning record on the road since the 2007-08 team went 10-7 in away games.  The 10 road wins that year are the most by a Mount team in the Mount's Division I era (since 1988-89).
  • Mount St. Mary's is 4-1 over its past five games to move to 10-5 on the season, extending the team's best start since 1986-87.  The 10-5 record is the Mount's best after 15 games since moving to Division I.  The Mountaineers were 13-2 after 15 games in 1986-87.
  • Terrell Ard Jr. led the Mountaineers with 16 points off the bench in the win at Manhattan.  The senior forward is averaging 12.0 points and a team-best 7.5 rebounds this season while shooting 52.8 percent from the field.  Ard Jr. has scored in double figures in each of the past six games, averaging 13.1 points over that span.  He has scored in double figures in 12 of the Mount's 15 games.
  • After averaging 20.3 turnovers over the first four games, the Mountaineers are averaging 13.0 turnovers over the past 11 games.  The Mount had seven turnovers with 22 assists in the win at Manhattan on Friday.
  • Up next, the Mount visits Rider on Thursday, January 16, at 7:00 p.m. before returning home to face preseason MAAC favorite Quinnipiac on Saturday, January 18, at 4:00 p.m.
