EMMITSBURG, Md. (September 21, 2024) – Mount St. Mary's women's soccer picked up their first Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) victory Saturday, using goals by
Sydoney Clarke and
Nathalie Mejia to defeat the Marist Red Foxes, 2-0.
The victory improves the Mount's record to 4-5 for the entire season and 1-2 in the MAAC.
Clarke found the back of the net in the 27
th minute, flicking the shot past the Red Foxes goalkeeper. The score is her team-leading fourth of the season, a total that ties for the third most among MAAC competitors. Mejia scored for the first time as a Mountaineer, securing the olimpico off the corner kick in the 74
th minute.
Erin Antone supplied an assist on the Clarke goal, boosting her point total to five, which is good for second best on the team.
Goalkeeper
Adelaide Paredes recorded her fourth clean sheet as a member of the Mountaineers, earning a total of six games along the way. The freshman's save total now stands at 46 for the season, and each of the team's four wins corresponds with a shutout.
The Mountaineers travel to Sacred Heart next Saturday (Sept. 28) for a 3:30 p.m. kickoff.
