EMMITSBURG, Md. (May 31, 2024) –Mount St. Mary's men's basketball coach Donny Lind has announced the addition of assistant coach Sidy Sall (pronounced Seed-ee) to the coaching staff. Sall comes to the Mount from the NBA Academy Africa where he has served as an assistant coach since 2020.
"I'm thrilled to add Sidy to our staff. The basketball world is shrinking and although he was on the other side of the globe, we developed a strong relationship," said Lind. "I know he has the type of character that can be a role model to our players. His playing and coaching experience as well as his deep international recruiting ties will allow him to recruit high caliber student-athletes and develop them to reach their full potential."
Sall has served as NBA Academy Africa's assistant coach since 2020, helping recruit top prospects, planning, implementing and executing the NBA player development curriculum, and on-court practices and player development. He also serves as an assistant coach for the Senegalese National team.
Previous coaching stints included a season as an assistant coach at Rhodes College in Memphis, Tenn., and a youth basketball coach for the Memphis Grizzlies from 2018-20.
Sall, a 2015 graduate of Christian Brothers University, played professionally overseas for three seasons after a four-year career at Christian Brothers. Sall will be arriving in Emmitsburg with his wife Aïssatou and daughters Missy and Lissa.
Lind announced earlier this month the additions of assistant coaches Keith Chesley and Dave Matturo while retaining assistant coach
Jeremy Freeman and graduate assistant
Andrew Winton on staff.
