Isabella Hunt Goes for Career-High 21; Mount Runs Past Rider

EMMITSBURG, Md. (February 8, 2024) – Senior Isabella Hunt posted another career high for points, this time going for 21 as Mount St. Mary's women's basketball defeated Rider by a 64-43 final.

Mount improves to 8-13 (5-7 MAAC) while Rider falls to 5-16 (2-10 MAAC) this season.

Hunt with 9-for-12 from the floor and 3-for-4 from the stripe. She also grabbed 10 rebounds for her third double-double this season, and sixth of her career. Jada Lee also went for double figures with 14 along with tying a career high in steals with five. Jo Raflo finished the contest with 12 points.

The Mount cleaned up the boards all evening long, outpacing the Broncs in rebounding 40-29. Half of those rebounds were on offense, which is most for the team since February of last year against Saint Peter's. Jaedyn Jamison and Raflo finished tied for second in the rebound count with six each.

Rider was inhibited by absences for two of their top three scorers. Kaylan Deveney led the Broncs with nine points.

Both teams played an even first quarter, with Rider holding a slight 13-12 lead after one. With the contest at 16-14 Broncs, Hunt took over for the rest of the half. She went on a personal 13-0 run to flip the game and scored another bucket for good measure. A trey from Giana Hoddinott and a free throw from Lee boosted the Mount's score to 32-21 at halftime.

Lee and Raflo kicked off the third and before the media, Mount's lead had blossomed to 20 points.  A layup by McKenzie Matheny with 6:10 left gave the home side its biggest advantage at 26, and the team rode the wave to the final buzzer.

This Saturday (Feb. 10), Mount St. Mary's welcomes Canisius. Tip-off is 1 p.m. from Knott Arena.
