MOUNT STORY LINES
-  De'Shayne Montgomery poured in 25 points while Terrell Ard, Jr., added his first double-double of the season to pace Mount St .Mary's to a 72-65 win over Iona at Knott Arena on Sunday afternoon. Montgomery finished with 25 points, five assists and four rebounds in the victory while Ard, Jr., added 13 points, 11 rebounds, five assists and two steals off the bench. Joshua Reaves added 12 points and a season-high seven rebounds while George Tinsley recorded 10 points and five rebounds in the victory. Leading 64-63, Montgomery's traditional three-point play with just over a minute left proved to be the decisive basket in the game.
- Mount St. Mary's defeated Canisius, 74-69, at Knott Arena on January 5 to take a 5-0 lead in the all-time series. The Mount has won all four matchups with the Golden Griffins since moving to the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference last year. All four of those meetings have been decided by five points or less. The Mount edged Canisius, 67-66 in overtime, in last year's MAAC Quarterfinals.
- De'Shayne Montgomery was named the MAAC Rookie of the Week on Monday. Montgomery has won the award the past two weeks, and four times this season. He averaged 23.0 points, 5.0 rebounds and 4.5 assists while shooting 59.3 percent from the field in two games last week.
- De'Shayne Montgomery has scored 20 or more points in each of the past three games for the Mountaineers. He is the first Mount freshman to record three consecutive 20-point games since Vado Morse had three during the 2018-19 season. Montgomery now has six 20-point games this season, the most by a freshman since Morse had seven in 2018-19.
- George Tinsley scored 10 points in the Mount's win over Iona, giving him 987 points for his collegiate career, just 13 shy of the 1,000-point mark. The graduate student is in his second season at the Mount after spending three years at Binghamton. Tinsley scored 606 points in three seasons at Binghamton while he has tallied 381 points in 60 games as a Mountaineer.
- Mount St. Mary's plays its final road game of the season on Sunday at Niagara. Tip-off is set for 2:00 p.m.
