EMMITSBURG, Md. (February 22^nd, 2024) – Mount Baseball heads next door to Richmond, Va. to battle in a non-conference weekend series against the Richmond Spiders. Mount St. Mary's is 1-3 on the season with a dominant win over Norfolk State.
 
MOUNT UPDATE
 
In trying to find a consistent offense, the Mount has five batters batting .250. Tyler Long has four hits with five runs, and five RBI's; Shane Wockley has four hits, six RBI's, and one score; JT Landwehr has three hits, two scores, and two RBI's; Josh Braxton shows two hits, one score, and an RBI; while Ty Stecko has two hits, two runs, and three RBI's. A remarkable case is Ty Fredo who has a one-run homer in his first collegiate at-bat, batting 1.000.
 
Kyle Speas and Deven Sheerin lead the Mountaineers on the Mound so far this season. Speas has four IP, one save, zero runs, with four punchouts. Sheerin has an ERA of 1.80 through five IP, with 11 strikeouts.
 
SCOUTING RICHMOND
 
The Spiders are 0-5 at home this season with a four-game sweep by Niagara and a loss to William & Mary. Jake Topolski leads the team batting .313 with five hits, five RBI's, and a homerun. Second in-line is Jason Shockley batting .250 with four hits and an RBI. Richmond's Ace, RHP Kyle Roche, yields an ERA of 1.29 through seven innings, with five strikeouts.
