GENEVA, OHIO (February 16th, 2024) – Through day three of the MAAC Championships the women hold sixth place with a point total of 224.5, while the men hold seventh with a point total of 211.
The women started their day in the 100-Yard Butterly as swimmers
Abigail Steckiel and
Dahna Yoon placed to earn their team a collective four points. Steckiel finished 13
th with a time of 58.09 seconds, while Yoon finished 16
th with a finals time of 58.39. A few events later, in the 200-Freestyle,
Meghan Speicher earned a fifth-place nod after tallying a time of 1:53.65, adding 15 points to her team total.
Christina Lazari followed with a third-place nod in the 100-Free with a finals time of 1:03.49, while
Emily Myers finished eighth in the same event, tallying a time of 1:05.96.
Hanna Aggen and
Lauren Wetzel added 18 points in the 100-Backstroke with eighth and tenth place finishes. The women closed their day with a fourth-place nod in the 400-Medley Relay as swimmers Aggen, Lazari, Steckiel, and
Maddy Samuels tallied a finals time of 3:49.89.
The men opened their day with an eighth-place tally in the 200-Free, notching a time of 1:40.94, while
Austin Toland placed 16
th with a time of 1:44.65.
Aidan Grady followed with a second-place nod in the 100-Breaststroke, tallying a time of 54.61 seconds, while
Jacob Wallace finished fourth with a time of 54.94 seconds, and adding a collective 35 points to their team's point total. Next up,
Jason Fitch in the 100-Back, who finished third with a finals time of 48.84 seconds, adding 16 additional points. The men concluded their day with a second-place nod in the 400-Medley Relay as swimmers Fitch, Grady, Wallace, and Toland tallied a finals time of 3:16.83. The team toppled the previous record of 3:19.32 at the CSCAA National Invitational in 2022.
