MOUNT STORY LINES
  • The Mount dropped its MAAC opener, 53-50, at Marist on Friday night.  The defensive struggle saw the Mount limited to just one point over the final 4:37 of the contest.  Dallas Hobbs paced the Mountaineers with 11 points in the game.  The Mount led 49-46, but were held scoreless over the next 4:12 as Marist took a 53-49 advantage.  Hobbs hit 1-of-2 at the line with 37 seconds left, and the Mount got the ball back after a turnover.  Hobbs and Terrell Ard Jr. had potential tying three-point attempts in the closing seconds go off the mark and Marist was able to escape with the win.
  • Mount St. Mary's is off to its best start to a season since joining NCAA Division I in 1988-89.  The Mount's 5-2 record tops the previous best mark of 4-3 that was done on four occasions.  The last time the Mountaineers had a better start to the season was in 1986-87 when the team won 11 of its first 12 games.
  • Fairfield swept the season series last year, and now holds a 4-1 lead in the all-time series.  The Stags have won all four meetings between the two teams since the Mount joined the MAAC prior to the 2022-23 season.\
  • Sophomore Carmelo Pacheco has found his shooting touch, hitting 12-of-16 (.750) from three-point range over the past three games.  Pacheco hit a season-high six three-pointers (all in the first half) in the Mount's win at Howard on November 30.  He is now shooting 46.2 percent (18-of-39) from beyond the arc this season.
  • Jedy Cordilia pulled down a career high 12 rebounds in the Mount's 53-50 loss at Marist on Friday night.  It is the fourth time in his career that he has reached double figures in rebounding.  His previous career best was 11 rebounds done on three different occasions.  Cordilia leads the Mount in rebounding, averaging 7.9 per game this season, good for third in the MAAC.
  • The Mount forced Marist into a turnover on 26.6 percent (17-of-64) possessions on Friday night, the best single-game mark this season for the Mountaineers.
  • Up next, the Mount hosts longtime rival Loyola for the 179th edition Catholic Clash on Saturday, December 14.  The Mount holds a 102-76 lead in the all-tiime series in the most played rivalry in the state of Maryland. Tip-off at Knott Arena is set for 7:00 p.m.
  • The Air Elite Dunkers will perform at halftime at Sunday's game while fans will also receive Mount Santa Hats while supplies last.  Purchase tickets for Sunday's game HERE.
