MOUNT STORY LINES
  • Mount St. Mary's improved to 5-2 with a 79-75 win at Howard on Saturday.  Carmelo Pacheco four Mountaineers in double figures with 18 points.  Dallas Hobbs added 17, Terrell Ard Jr. 16 and Dola Adebayo 11 in the victory.  A late 6-0 run gave the Mount a five-point lead in the final minute while  Xavier Lipscomb sealed the win with four free throws in the final 17 seconds.
  • Mount St. Mary's is off to its best start to a season since joining NCAA Division I in 1988-89.  The Mount's 5-2 record tops the previous best mark of 4-3 that was done on four occasions.  The last time the Mountaineers had a better start to the season was in 1986-87 when the team won 11 of its first 12 games.
  • Mount St. Mary's swept the season series with Marist last year and now holds a 15-7 lead in the all-time series.  The Mountaineers are 5-5 all-time on the road against the Red Foxes, including a 76-58 win last year.
  • The Mountaineers posted a 5-2 mark in November this season, marking the most wins in the month in program history.  The previous best was three November wins done on five different occasions.
  • Sophomore Carmelo Pacheco hit six three-pointers in the first half of the Mount's 79-75 win over Howard on Saturday.  Pacheco finished the game with a team-high 18 points, going 6-for-8 from three-point range.  The transfer from UVA Wise is 10-for-13 (.769) on three-pointers over the past two games, and he is now shooting 44.4 percent (16-for-36) on the season from three.
  • Mount St. Mary's hit 29-of-30 (.967) at the foul line in the victory, including a perfect 24-for-24 in the second half.  In fact, the Mountaineers made their final 29 free throws in the game after missing its first attempt.   The Mount's effort at the foul line was also a program single-game record for free throw percentage with a minimum of 15 attempts, besting the old mark of .963 (26-of-27) set against Bryant on Feb. 14, 2013.  The Mount has been perfect at the line four times in program history, topped by a 12-for-12 performance against Manhattan on Nov. 21, 2000.
  • The Mountaineers have a quick turnaround, hosting Fairfield on Sunday, December 8, at 2:00 p.m. The Air Elite Dunkers will perform at halftime while the fans will also receive Mount Santa Hats while supplies last.  Purchase tickets for Sunday's game HERE.
