MOUNT STORY LINES
- Mount St. Mary's lost its first home game of the season, 77-69, to Loyola on Saturday night at Knott Arena. Dola Adebayo led the Mountaineers with 14 points while Terrell Ard Jr. and Javon Ervin added 13 points each. Loyola jumped out to a 35-24 lead at the half. The Mount scored the next 11 points to tie the game, but the Greyhounds went on a 16-to-4 run to build the lead back to double digits en route to the win. It was the 179th all-time meeting between the Mount and Loyola in the most played rivalry in the state of Maryland with the Mount holding a 102-77 lead in the series.
- The Mount faces former Northeast Conference rival LIU for the second time since moving to the MAAC prior to the 2022-23 season. Last year, the Mount rolled to an 87-59 win at home to even the all-time series at 35 wins each. The Mountaineers are 12-21 all-time on the road against the Sharks, including a 91-70 loss in the 2013 NEC Championship game.Â
- Mount St. Mary's is 5-3 this season in non-conference games. The five non-conference wins are the most by the Mount since going 6-7 out of conference in 2017-18. The Mountaineers have recorded just one winning non-conference mark since joining NCAA Division I in 1988-89 (5-4 in 2002-03). The Mount has three non-conference games left on the schedule, road games at LIU (Dec. 18), Miami (Fla.) (Dec. 21) and George Mason (Dec. 28).
- Javon Ervin has started each of the past two games for the Mountaineers, averaging 13.5 points, 4.0 rebounds and 2.0 assists. He is coming off a 13-point, six-rebound effort in the loss to Loyola on Saturday. Ervin has scored in double figures three times this year, and is averaging 6.5 points per game.
- Jedy Cordilia went 4-for-5 from the field against Loyola, and is now shooting a league-leading 67.2 percent (41-of-61) from the floor this season. The senior forward is now shooting 59.1 percent (228-386) in his Mount career, which is currently the best career field goal percentage (min. 300 att.) in program history. Cordilia is averaging 14.5 points over the past two games, including a 21-point outing in the Mount's 101-94 victory over Fairfield.
- Up next, the Mount visits Miami (Fla.) on Saturday, December 21, for a 2:00 p.m. tip-off. The Mount then heads to George Mason for a 2:00 p.m. game on December 28 before finally returning home on Sunday, January 5, to face Niagara at 2:00 p.m.
