EMMITSBURG, Md. (November 26, 2024) – Mount St. Mary's women's basketball finished the November portion of the schedule at George Mason Tuesday evening, falling to the Patriots 87-51.
Anna LeMaster led the Mountaineers with a game-high 14 points. A pair of freshmen either matched or set career highs for points, with
Madison Ruff earning eight points and
Wesleigh Ferguson netting five.
Jo Raflo added nine points to go along with a team-high of six rebounds.
The Patriots had Jada Brown equal LeMaster with 14 points, leading a group of six George Mason players to reach double figures. Playing in aggressive fashion, GMU tallied 47 rebounds in the match and scored 32 points off turnovers.
George Mason opened a 14-3 advantage by capitalizing on the Mountaineers' turnovers. As the visitors dissected the Patriot press, they were able to hold their own to close out the quarter.
Rosa Revueltas Pareja hit a floater to put the game at 22-13 Mason following the first frame.
After the Mount closed the lead to seven on a LeMaster triple, GMU established further command in the contest. The lead would extend to 20 points late in the opening half. A 14-0 run after a Raflo bucket to begin the third quarter cemented the game for the Patriots. There was a fourth quarter Mount run of 9-0, bolstered by a
Jaedyn Jamison three-pointer.
One week from tonight (Dec. 3), Mount St. Mary's battles Maryland at the XFINITY Center.
