Emmitsburg, MD (November 2, 2024) – The Mount St. Mary's men's rugby team continues their winning streak, defeating St. Bonaventure on Saturday, 36-28. The Mount is now on a three game winning streak.
The Mount came out firing this week, with a
Hayden McKay try three minutes into the game. Busy as ever,
Evan Corbett followed it up with a made conversion. Less than five minutes later,
James Stelluti scoring a try of his own. The Mount held the early lead, 12-0. St. Bonaventure fought back though, scoring a penalty kick 14 minutes into the game. On the other end of the field,
Evan Corbett made a penalty kick of his own adding to the Mount's lead. The Bonnies gained momentum towards the end of the half, scoring another penalty kick and two tries. At the end of the first half St. Bonaventure held the lead, 16-15.
The Mount offense fought back though, scoring a try out of the half by
Seamus McGroarty. After a kick by Corbett the Mount took back the lead. Continuing the back-and-forth battle, the Bonnies scored a try of their own seven minutes later. The Mount showed their strength, scoring two tries to secure the lead, one coming from
Bastian Brunello and another coming from
Xavier Lock. After the conversions made by Corbett, the Mount held the lead for the remainder of the game.
