EMMITSBURG, Md. (November 1, 2024) – After a fourth-place finish at the Thomas Murphy Invitational in Baltimore, Maryland last weekend, Mount St. Mary's Swimming and Diving travels south to Lexington, Virginia to face off against VMI in dual-meet competition.

At the Thomas Murphy Invitational, the Mount placed fourth among a field of schools including Loyola, Lehigh, Towson, and UMBC, with the men scoring 587 points and the women scoring 543 points. In the women's 100-Yard ButterflyÂ
Theodora Kanellopoulou placed eight in the A Final with a time of 57.85.Â
Jason Fitch placed fifth in the A Final of the men's 100-Yard Backstroke with a time of 50.40 with 29 points awarded to him. The relay team ofÂ

Meghan Speicher placed fourth in the 400-Yard Medley Relay with a time of 3:50.59, beating out fifth placed Towson by a second in the women's event.

SCOUTING THE KEYDETS

VMI have only raced in one competition prior to their showdown with the Mount resulting in a 203-95 dual-meet loss to Davidson on October 26. Last year against the Mountaineers, the Keydets lost in both the men's and women's categories, with the Mountaineers narrowly beating VMI 151-142 in a photo finish in the men's competition and 179.5-108.5 in the women's competition.
