Mountaineers Withstand Onslaught, Secure Hard Earned Point Against Manhattan

EMMITSBURG, Md. (October 2, 2024) – Facing 22 shots, including 15 in the second half, Mount St. Mary's women's soccer completed the clean sheet and earned a 0-0 draw against the Manhattan Jaspers. The hard earned point is the seventh for the Mount in Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) play.

Adelaide Paredes had a strong performance in goal, finishing the contest with a career-high nine saves. The freshman procured her fifth clean sheet in 2024 and brought her save count for the season to 59. Defense played its part on set pieces, thwarting away 15 corner kick attempts and blocking several additional chances towards the net.

Forcing to play back, the Mount registered four shots in the match – three of which came in the first half. Payton Meara had the lone shot on goal, coming in the 14th minute.

The draw keeps Mount St. Mary's in the top half of the conference table entering a bye on October 5th. After being away from competition this weekend, the team returns to the pitch on Wednesday (Oct. 9) in Jersey City against the Saint Peter's Peacocks.
