EMMITSBURG, Md. (October 12, 2024) – A singular inside chance disrupted a hard-fought defensive effort for Mount St. Mary's women's soccer, who fell 1-0 to the Fairfield Stags Saturday.
Facing 21 shots, the Mountaineers did an excellent job forcing the Stags to take their chances from outside. As a result, only eight landed on goal.
Adelaide Paredes made six saves and got an assist from her teammates for a seventh save.
In the 55
th minute, Fairfield was able to break through the defensive wall. Elle Scott crossed the ball in, finding Maddy Theriault in open space. The Stags' leading scorer flicked the ball in for the match's lone goal.
Mount St. Mary's now stands at 5-7-1 on the season and 2-3-1 in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC).
Staying in Emmitsburg, the Mount challenges Canisius in a midweek match. Kickoff is 4 p.m. on Wednesday (Oct. 16).
