  • Mount St. Mary's earned a 74-69 win over Canisius on Friday night at Knott Arena.  George Tinsley scored a season-high 18 points to lead the Mount in the victory.  Dakota Leffew added 12 points and seven rebounds while Dallas Hobbs had 11 points and five assists in the win.  The Mount used a 13-0 run in the first half to take a double-digit lead.  An 11-to-2 run in the second half gave the Mount a 66-57 victory.  The Golden Griffins cut the deficit to 70-69, but a Jedy Cordilia basket with a minute left and two Leffew free throws with 2.6 seconds on the clock sealed the victory.
  • The all-time series is tied at 3-3 after the teams split last year's season series.  The Mount posted a 73-58 win at Saint Peter's in the Mount's first- ever Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference game.  The Peacocks rallied from a 12-point halftime deficit for a 73-62 win at Knott Arena in January.
  • It was a balanced scoring effort in the Mount's win over Canisius Friday night as all eight players who played for the Mountaineers scored at least five points in the win.
  • Mount St. Mary's is 2-7 on the road this season with victories at Loyola (77-64) and Saint Francis U (72-65).  Dakota Leffew is averaging a team-high 17.8 points on the road this year while De'Shayne Montgomery is averaging 14.1 points.  Three of the Mount's seven losses on the road have been by four points or less (Delaware State, Manhattan and American).  Offensively, the  Mountaineers are averaging 76.0 points over their past four road contests.
  • George Tinsley went 7-for-10 from the field and 4-of-5 from three-point range for his 18-point effort in the win over Canisius.  Tinsley entered the game 2-of-17 (.118) from three-point range on the season.  Tinsley is shooting 56.3 percent from the field this season, including 71.4 percent from two-point range.  He is averaging 6.3 points and 4.5 rebounds on the year.
  • Up next, the Mountaineers return to action at Iona on Sunday, January 14, at 1:00 p.m.  The Mount's next home game will be Friday, January 19, against Marist at 7:00 p.m.
