Mount Men's Basketball Hosts Canisius as MAAC Play Resumes

MOUNT STORY LINES
  • Mount St. Mary's saw Delaware State rally from an eight-point halftime deficit for a 77-73 victory on December 30.  Dakota Leffew led the Mountaineers with 21 points while adding six boards.  Leffew hit 5-of-8 from three-point range in the game.  Dallas Hobbs chipped in 16 points, six boards and five assists while De'Shayne Montgomery scored 13 off the bench. 
  • Mount St. Mary's has won all four meetings in the all-time series with Canisius, including all three matchups last year.  Last year, the Mount's three wins over the Golden Griffins were by a combined six points, including a 67-66 overtime victory in the MAAC Tournament First Round in Atlantic City.
  • Dakota Leffew averaged 16.7 points in the three games against Canisius last year, including a 22-point outing in the 75-74 home victory.  Leffew shot 48.0 percent (12-of-25) from three-point range against the Golden Griffins last year.  George Tinsley averaged 12.3 points and 6.7 rebounds in the three games as well, scoring in double figures in all three contests.  He 10 points, 11 rebounds and five assists in the MAAC First Round victory.
  • Mount St. Mary's is averaging 81.0 points in four home games this season.  The Mountaineers have topped the 80-point mark in each of the past three home games, including a season-high 87 in the win over LIU on December 23.  The Mount is shooting 49.3 percent overall and 40.7 percent from three-point range at home this year.  Defensively, the Mount is holding the opposition to 37.7 percent shooting overall and 18.8 percent from three-point range in the four home games.
  • Freshman De'Shayne Montgomery leads the Mount in both field goal percentage (.556) and steals (2.3).  Montgomery is fourth in the MAAC in FG Pct. and second in steals.  He is shooting 62.4 percent from two-point range.
  • Up next, the Mountaineers are on the road for the next two games, beginning with a matchup at Saint Peter's on Sunday at 1:00 p.m.  The Mount plays at Iona on Jan. 14 before returning to Knott Arena to face Marist on Friday, January 19, at 7:00 p.m.
