MOUNT STORY LINES
  • Mount St. Mary's lost at Iona, 87-70, this past Sunday to fall to 6-10 overall and 2-3 in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference.  Dakota Leffew led the Mount with 20 points and five assists while George Tinsley added 11 points and five boards.  The Mount trailed 60-59 after a Dallas Hobbs three-pointer, but Iona scored the next seven points and eventually pulled away for the win.  Iona shot 63.6 percent in the second half.
  • Mount St. Mary's holds a 13-7 lead in the all-time series with Marist. Last year, the teams split the season series with each winning at home.  The Mount and Marist were Northeast Conference rivals during Marist's seven-year tenure in the league from 1990-97.  The Mount defeated Marist, 84-79, in the 1995 NEC Semifinals at Knott Arena. 
  • The Mount will play three of its next four games at Knott Arena beginning with the matchup against Marist.  The Mount is 4-1 at home this season, averaging 79.6 points per game while shooting 49.7 percent from the field and 38.7 percent from three-point range.
  • Dakota Leffew has scored in double figures in each of the past 15 games for the Mountaineers, hitting the 20-point plateau eight times over that stretch.  Leffew leads the Mount in scoring (17.6), assists (4.1) and three-point field goals made (39).  He is 18-for-41 (.439) from three-point range over the past five games and is averaging 19.0 points in MAAC games this year.
  • Senior forward George Tinsley has been a key contributor for the Mountaineers of late, averaging 11.0 points and 5.2 rebounds over the past five games.  Tinsley is closing in on 1,000 points for his collegiate career.  He has 945 career points in 123 games played.  He scored 606 points in three seasons at Binghamton and has 339 points in two years with the Mount.
  • Mount St. Mary's hosts Niagara on Sunday at 2:00 p.m. before heading to Quinnipiac on Thursday, Jan. 25.  The Mount will then return home to face Rider for Homecoming on Saturday, Jan. 27, at 5:00 p.m.
