First Half Strike Leads Mount St. Mary's to 1-0 Win over Saint Peter's

Emmitsburg, Md. (September 30, 2023)--Madison Bee scored in the 34th minute and the Mount St. Mary's defense made it stand in a 1-0 victory over Saint Peter's on a beautiful afternoon at Waldron Family Stadium.  The Mountaineers move to 3-6-2 overall and 1-2-1 in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference with the victory.

The game-winning goal came on a pretty buildup from the Mountaineer offense.  Luisangely Navas played a ball to Alexa Dragisics near the top of the box.  Dragisics made a nice touch to the left to Nicole Wilson, who sent a perfect cross to the middle to set up Bee for the winning header.  It is Bee's second goal of the season, tying her for the team lead.
The Mount defense stood tall in the second half, limiting Saint Peter's (3-5-0, 1-2-0 MAAC) to four shots attempts and just two on goal.  The Mount had a golden chance to stretch the lead to a pair of goals late in the game when Navas sent a cross to Cassidy Nichols who saw her shot go high.

The Mountaineers held a 12-to-8 shot advantage in the game, including a 4-to-2 edge in shots on goal.  The Mount had four corner kicks to one for the Peacocks.  In goal, Klil Keshwar made a pair of saves to post her second clean sheet of the season.  Saint Peter's goalkeeper Annabell Adams made three saves in the loss.

UP NEXT:  The Mountaineers stay at home to host Niagara on Wednesday, October 4, with a 2:00 p.m. kick-off at Waldron Family Stadium.
