Emmitsburg, Md. (September 1, 2023)--Luisangely Navas scored the game-winning goal in the 58th minute to lead Mount St. Mary's to a 2-1 victory over Hampton on Senior Day at Waldron Family Stadium on Friday afternoon.
Taylor Carter added her first goal as a Mountaineer in the 45th minute to pace the Mountaineers.
Hampton (0-5-0) started the scoring in the 35th minute when Sanaa Perry converted a Keri Geter pass to give the Lady Pirates the 1-0 advantage. The Mountaineers were held at bay until the 45th minute when
Ally Krieger drew a foul inside the box with the Mount being awarded a penalty kick. A Graduate student making her Mountaineer debut, Carter drilled home the goal on the kick to even the score at 1-1 at the half.
The Mount (1-3-1) controlled play in the second half, generating a 14-to-4 shot advantage. It wasn't until the 58th that the Mount broke through for the go-ahead goal.
Erin Antone started the play, sending Navas alone into a one-on-one with Hampton goalkeeper Alexis Deveaux. Navas was able to calmly strike the ball into the goal in the lower left hand part of the net for the winning tally.
The Mount finished the game with a 17-to-8 shot advantage, including an 11-to-5 edge in shots on goal. Senior
Arden Lembryk started in goal for the Mount, making three saves while allowing a goal in 45 minutes of action. Graduate student
Klil Keshwar played the second half, making one save with no goals allowed to pick up the win. Deveaux finished with nine saves for Hampton.

The Mount returns to the field on Wednesday, September 6, with a 2:00 p.m. home game against Robert Morris.
