Emmitsburg, Md. (August 24, 2023)--Mount St. Mary's fell to Towson, 3-0, in the home opener on Thursday afternoon at Waldron Family Stadium. Towson scored twice in a span of two minutes in the first half to take control of the game. Goalkeepers
Klil Keshwar and
Arden Lembryk combined for four saves in the contest.
Towson (3-0) opened the scoring in the 16th minute on Jasmine Hamid's header off a Reese Borden corner kick. Two minutes later, the Tigers made it a two-goal game when Phoebe Canoles took a pass from Nia Christopher, cut back toward the goal, and beat Keshwar to make it 2-0. Christopher closed out the scoring with a tally in the 53rd minute.
Keshwar made three saves while allowing two goals in the opening 45 minutes while Lembryk made one save in the second half. Towson outshot the Mount, 20-4, in the game, including a 7-to-2 margin in shots on goal.
