EMMITSBURG, Md. (April 10, 2023) – Men's lacrosse senior faceoff specialist
Connor Beals and junior goalkeeper
Griffin McGinley were selected for weekly honors by the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC). Beals is the Faceoff Player of the Week, while McGinley is tabbed as Co-Defender of the Week. Both played a key role in the Mount's 12-9 win over Marist last Saturday.
Beals receives the honor for the second straight week, winning 13-of-21 faceoffs. The Wixom, Michigan native stands as the top individual in the MAAC for faceoffs, gaining possession for the Mount 61.7 percent of the time (129-for-209). The Mountaineers' group of faceoff players win the engagements at a clip of .579, also best for the league.
McGinley was masterful in the net against the Red Foxes, denying 14 of the 23 shots on goal. Keeping Marist out of the net for the vast majority of the first half, the Philadelphian allowed the Mount to build a 6-1 halftime lead, eventually rising to 9-2. Playing close to 700 minutes, McGinley has 112 saves so far this year.
