EMMITSBURG, Md. (March 28, 2023) – Looking to build off wins over LIU and Wagner, Mount St. Mary's men's lacrosse heads down I-81 to battle VMI.
 
MOUNT UPDATE

Defeating Wagner 10-7 last Saturday, TJ Gravante led the way in goals with four while Mitchell Dunham registered eight ground balls and six caused turnovers. The duo received Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) honors for their efforts.
 
Jared McMahon continues to lead all three primary offensive categories, with 25 points off 17 goals and eight assists. Steven Schmitt is the ground ball leader at 41, and Connor Beals has the most face off wins with a success rate of 59.5 percent.
 
A win Wednesday would mark the longest streak for the team since 2019, when they won five in a row during March and April of that year. It would also entrench them in the upper parts of the MAAC standings as the early portion of conference play hits.
 
SCOUTING THE KEYDETS

VMI is looking to return to a .500 record in MAAC play. A win over Siena so far has been bookended by losses at LIU and Sacred Heart. Luke Rusterucci leads the offense, combining 20 goals and 17 assists to earn 30 points. Jack Rogers has won 110 faceoffs with a team-best 47 ground balls. Adam Norris is the primary goalkeeper with 119 saves.
 
ALL-TIME SERIES

Going back to 1991, the Mount holds a 28-3 record over VMI. The two teams have played each other every year since 2015. Mount St. Mary's had won each meeting from 2005 until last year, when the Keydets broke the streak with an 8-7 win in Emmitsburg.
