EMMITSBURG, Md. (December 22, 2023) – Facing Power 5 and undefeated TCU Horned Frogs, Mount St. Mary's women's basketball fell Friday by an 87-34 final. The contest concluded non-conference showings that count towards the season standings.
Jessica Tomasetti was the main stat collector for the Mountaineers, finishing with 12 points and seven rebounds, both team highs.
Jada Lee finished with eight points.
Tessa Engelman led all players off the bench with four points.
Four Horned Frogs finished in double figures, with Sedona Price and Agnes Emma-Nnopu earning double-doubles. TCU improved to 13-0, ending non-conference play unblemished.
TCU opened the game with a 17-0 run. Lee polished a three-pointer to end the Mount's 0-for-8 start, but they trailed by 18 after 10 minutes. Some solid defense kept the second quarter close for a time, but a 15-0 Frogs run helped push the lead to 40-14 by halftime. Four of the five Mount field goals in the first half came from beyond-the-arc.
In the fourth, the Mountaineers were able to produce a solid effort, posting 17 in the final frame. The visitors shot 8-for-15 (53.3 percent) as the game wrapped up.
The Mount falls to 3-8 this season.
Mount St. Mary's will host an exhibition contest December 30 against Bryn Athan before resuming Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) play against Canisius January 4.
