WASHINGTON, D.C. (December 2nd, 2023) – Mount St. Mary's swimming teams posted back-to-back powerful performances following day two of the ECAC Winter Championships. The women's team followed suit after the men's team set two school records yesterday, with two broken records of their own today.
Hanna Aggen,
Christina Lazari,
Meghan Speicher, and
Maddy Samuels opened the day with a school record in the 200-Yard Medley event, posting a time of 1:44.33, eclipsing a longstanding record held by Morgan Runk, Haley Fournier, Mollie Walsh, and Catriona Coppler established back in 2014. With six events remaining the Mount swimming teams look to leave their mark on the ECAC Winter Championships.

Over in Baltimore, Md. the Mountaineer divers wrapped up the H2O Hounds Invitational earlier this evening. Senior
Jessalyn Powell finished the tournament with 136.50 points, while graduate student
Timmy Bonner finished with 188.20 points.
Abigail Steckiel followed the medley event with a tenth-place finish in the 100-Butterfly with a finals time of 58.11.
Meghan Speicher and
Madison Murphy proved strength in the 200-Freestyle as Speicher placed 12
th (1:55.64), while Murphy finished 15
th with a finals time of 1:56.32.
Christina Lazari highlighted the day with not only a second-place finish and a broken record in the medley team event, however, earned a third-place nod in the 100-Breaststoke with a finals time of 1:03.64, breaking her previous record of 1:03.71 set in February of this year.
Near record times in three events, the men opened their day with a third-place finish in the 200-Medley with a time of 1:30.09, approximately .19 seconds shy of a school record, led by
Jason Fitch,
Aidan Grady,
Jacob Wallace, and
Austin Toland.
Nicholas Santorelli followed with a sixth-place nod in the 200-Free tallying a finals time of 1:40.82, just .29 seconds from outclassing his current personal and school record.
Jason Fitch was next to the put on a show in the 100-Backstroke as he finished third with a finals time of 49.52 seconds, shy of a school record by sub one second.
The ECAC Winter Championships conclude tomorrow as the morning preliminary sessions open at 9:00 a.m., while the finals sessions open at 4:00 p.m.
