MOUNT STORY LINES
  • Mount St. Mary's dropped a heart-breaker to Howard, 87-83, in double-overtime at Knott Arena this past Saturday.  Dakota Leffew led the Mount with 22 points while Dallas Hobbs added 20 in the game.  The Mount rallied from a 10-point deficit with four minutes left to tie the game on Dola Adebayo's dunk with 1.7 seconds left in regulation. The Mount led 75-72 in the first overtime, but Howard's Seth Towns hit a three-pointer with two seconds left to force the second OT.  Howard scored the first six points of the second overtime period en route to the win.
  • Mount St. Mary's is 7-11 all-time against Manhattan in a series that began on Jan. 13, 1910.  Last year, the teams split the season series with each winning on the road.  The Mount took a 74-69 win at Draddy Gymnasium on March 4 while the Jaspers earned a 62-57 win at Knott Arena on Jan. 13.
  • The Mount's 87-83 double-overtime loss to Howard on Saturday was the team's first multiple-overtime regular season game since an 82-73 double OT win over LIU at home on January 4, 2020.  The Mount did defeat Bucknell, 72-67, in its charity exhibition game over Bucknell on October 28 this season at Knott Arena.
  • Dakota Leffew (22) and Dallas Hobbs (20) each reached the 20-point plateau in the double-overtime loss to Howard.   It is the first time the Mount had a pair of 20-point scorers in the same game since Leffew (21) and Jalen Benjamin (22) did at Fairfield on Feb. 10.  It is Leffew's seventh career 20-point game while it is the first career 20-point effort by Hobbs, who is the 81st player in Mount history to record a 20-point game in the Division I era (since 1988-89).
  • De'Shayne Montgomery had five steals against Howard on Saturday, the first time a Mountaineer had five or more steals in a game since Xavier Lipscomb had five at Howard on Dec. 21, 2022.  Montgomery has recorded two or more steals in four of the Mount's five games, and is third in the MAAC with 2.4 steals per game.
  • Up next, the Mountaineers welcome Siena to Knott Arena on Sunday, December 3rd, for the MAAC Home Opener.  Get your tickets HERE.
