Mount St. Mary's Faces Coppin State in Home Opener on Saturday

The Mount looks to extend is home opener win streak to five when the Eagles visit Knott Arena for a 4:00 p.m. tip-off

MOUNT STORY LINES
  • Mount St. Mary's opened the season with a 68-53 loss at Maryland on Tuesday night.  Joshua Reaves led the Mount with 10 points in the game.  The Mount's trio of freshmen, De'Shayne Montgomery, Dallas Hobbs and Ronald Jessamy combined for 24 points in the game.  Hobbs had nine points, Montgomery eight, and Jessamy seven points and six boards in seven minutes of action.  The Mount was held to 35.6 percent shooting in the game.
  • Mount St. Mary's is looking for its fifth consecutive win in the team's home opener.  The Mount is 23-12 in home openers since moving to NCAA Division I, and is 87-27 all-time in home openers.  Head coach Dan Engelstad is 4-1 all-time in home openers at the Mount.  Last year, the Mount topped McDaniel, 60-38, in the home opener on Nov. 15.  This is the first time the Mount will play Coppin State in the home opening game.
  • Mount St. Mary's holds a 7-1 lead in the all-time series with Coppin State, including a 5-0 mark at home.  The Eagles won last year's matchup, 83-78, at Coppin State on November 11.
  • George Tinsley pulled down a team-high seven rebounds in the Mount's season opener at Maryland.  It is the 74th time in 108 career games played that Tinsley has had five or more rebounds in a game.
  • Joshua Reaves returned to the Mount's lineup with a team-high 10 points in the season opener at Maryland.  Reaves missed all but three games last season due to injury.  It was his first double-figure scoring effort since posting 13 points in the Northeast Conference semifinals at Bryant on March 5, 2022. One of his three games played last year was at Coppin State where he had eight points.
